Since 1.30, SCS has given to us a brand new traffic system, which has introduced a lot of new options to build a nice realistic traffic. Following a beta version that some of you have tested already (thank you by the way for you outputs in my old thread, I share with you my updated my mod in which I have kept the main features of my old traffic mod, therefore if you wish to know more you may please have a look in the above mentioned link. I suggest the old thread to remain open only for discussions related to 1.28 game version and below and start a new thread here. I have also modified the mod's title and versioning to be in line with game version.
Despite the few bugs in the new traffic system that I hope SCS will solve soon, it has been finally possible to update to the new traffic system and I have tested many combinations in order to obtain a realistic density all day long and also to take advantage from the new system with different traffic density and ratio on each type of roads individually. For example, it is possible now to have more buses in cities and more trucks on motorways, also more cars at rush hours, and more trucks during the night.
compatibility:
I have tested my mod on Vanilla with almost all jazzycat traffic packs and works great so far. I have also created an addon for Hungary map which I attach in the archive. It is very likely to work also on other maps like ProMods but it may cancel some of the ProMods features. I will gradually update the mod's compatibility with other maps soon.
how to use:
because it contains modified files for tractor and harvester which are also present in Sound fixes pack by Drive Safely, you should place my mod above Sound fixes pack. my files contain also the links to the improved sounds by Drive Safely for tractor and harvester. also be sure you place my mod above any traffic pack and also map mods (if you use any)

Real Traffic Density and Ratio - An excellent modification of "Real Traffic Density and Ratio" modifies most traffic settings to make it more "correct". Traffic on the roads will become more adequate and will look more organic. This mod has been and will always by compatible with all traffic packs, it is even recommended to use packs for increased density for the sake of diversity.
Features Real Traffic Density and Ratio:
- From 4:00 to 10:00 and from 15:00 to 20:00, the density changes every half hour, from 10 to 15 and from 20600 to 4:00 every hour;
- High density in the morning and afternoon, followed by a smooth decline in the evening. The peak flow occurs at 8:30 and 17:00;- with this mod, ETS2 receives a personalized density and ratio set at default g_traffic 1. it takes into account all game features from 1.30: spawn and ratio by daytime, type of roads, city size, density and ratio being set according to the game time scale
- thanks to SCS I was now able to set for example more cars and buses in cities and more trucks on freeways, or more cars at rush hours
- the semaphore profile includes increased green duration at large city roads, also more green time at road works semaphores and globally 3 seconds on yellow instead of 2 (from green to red)Changes in v1.44.b:

It’s the only traffic mod which added motorcycles, sport and classic cars as separate type of vehicles (available of course if you use these packs). These vehicles will therefore spawn following their rules, regardless the numbers of packs used.
My traffic mod is also the only mod which brings a separate speed class for emergency vehicles and also for motorcycles and sport cars, which will drive with increased speed wherever possible (speed limit is not given by road signs). Other Ai can also break the speed limit at random basis with a certain value, up to 35% of the speed limit. Ai cannot drive faster than their limit set in their files, therefore this rule won’t really apply to trucks but rather for cars which keeps things very realistic

you could consider also increasing g_traffic value, however this command will multiply all numbers and create therefore even smaller differences between day/night of between different type of roads. FPS is also very much affected with g_traffic
Why my Real Traffic Density mod is better than other traffic mods?
Because my mod uses rational spawn numbers according to the game’s limits checked personally in hours of testing; the numbers used at rush hours are +/- the maximum that the game can handle. The density follows real graphic charts the whole day long with peak at rush hours and reduced at night, according also to the type of the road, size of the cities, etc. Correct spawn numbers also offer a correct spawn ratio cars vs trucks vs other types of vehicles, again according to real life

How to use:
-most important rule: never increase g_traffic value! keep always g_traffic 1 when using this mod!!! you can use a smaller value if you want less traffic but not smaller than 0.5 which in theory will wipe out the type of vehicles with low spawn.
- place my mod above any map mods and other mods that may affect density.
- to use motorcycles, classic and sport as separate vehicles you need to rename their storage files to match with the root from my mod (def/vehicle/traffic_vehicle_type.cip.sii) or be the happy one with full access to all my personal mods
- slow vehicles are allowed on public roads but starting with 1.40 if you do not like the Harvester, place the Traffic mod above my Real Ai sounds and it will only circulate on closed road, or if you want the harvester on public local roads place sounds above traffic mod and will return. the tractor is not influenced by this swap, will show on local roads anyway
Known issues not related to my traffic mod:
- merging on motorway can be sometimes slow (SCS / map mod prefab issues)
- Ai non respecting rules like semaphore (prefab issues)
- areas with no spawn or low spawn (SCS issue)
- game can crash at high traffic density if many traffic pack are used (memory leak not yet confirmed, only in 1.35 and above) this error is generating the following error:
“Failed to assign pool segment “
Why you should use another traffic density mod?
- due to its complexity, my mod is frequently affected by game updates and it may happen to cause game crash if it's not immediately updated. I offer constant support to my mod, still it might be disturbing to have a game crash and not immediately knowing the cause, or be bothered by many mod updates.
- if you don't care about a realistic traffic density or about game FPS or frame rate performances and only want to see some more traffic around, but no still you don't want 10 police cars at once by using g_traffic command
Please note:
- if other mods claims a better performance don’t fall into the fancy description, there is not magic into it, better performance means much less traffic density which also means that is not a realistic traffic mod
- whatever you read about my mods from a certain user from Roextended forum, consider it garbage news, a cheep tentative to discreditate the most subscribed traffic mod on Steam. to check you can alway open the mod files and discover the truth!

SCS gave to us a great traffic system, however the default spawn values are very basic with very low density and minor differences day/night or type of roads. You can see in the chart below a comparison between SCS traffic and my traffic. if you are a real fan of Ai traffic, you may have heard about g_traffic, well this very basic parameter is only for fun, increasing this will multiply all numbers and mostly where is not necessary (at night time, local roads, crossroads). with g_traffic the ratio cars vs trucks vs other types is drastically affected, with g_traffic 10 for example you can see 10 police cars in the same time.About Real Traffic Density:
- it was designed to create a realistic traffic density taking advantages from the latest traffic system implemented by SCS starting in game version 1.30

1. Game can crash if a lot or traffic packs are used in combination with traffic density mods in general. as soon as you add more packs, you will notices a quick increase of RAM usage until game reach a certain limit and will inevitably crash with the following error
Failed to assign pool segment (models) for incoming allocation of size
the solution for this was kindly offered by SCS with launch option codes which increases the pool size and the number of buffers in launch options
I successfully use these values with GTX 1060, I7 4770 3.4 Ghz and 16 Gb RAM Code: Select all
-mm_pool_size 4000 -mm_max_resource_size 50 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000
for lower PC configuration you need to decrease these values (don't increase them if you have a more powerful PC) please read more here2. other traffic minor issues
-in some crossroads traffic rules might not be respected (prefabs issues)
-Ai merging on motorways might hang long time (prefabs issues)
-Ai cannot spawn in some places so you may find places where traffic is present only in one direction (scs issue, they work on it)
-Accidents on the roads that you never see happening (scs issue with multiple Ai spawning in identic locations)
-Ai can still fail in overtaking another Ai or the player (scs weak codes for timing and acceleration of Ai when overtaking)
- Slow downs or even stops on the roads, especially around gas stationsHow can you improve traffic in your game:
-for better traffic diversity you may consider using additional traffic packs
-you can use motorcycles, classic and sport cars from existent packs as separate types of vehicles! this has been implemented in my sound packs, if you use them you don't need to change anything. without traffic sounds you could rename in each pack you use the def/vehicle/sii file name as following:
traffic_storage_sport.any_name.sii
traffic_storage_classic.any_name.sii
traffic_storage_moto.any_name.sii
important: what's in green must be exactly as it is, any other modification will make the list unavailable. the yellow part is optional, necessary if you add vehicles from several packs, if you do this be sure you don't
have a name conflict
note that adding these as separate vehicles, it will slightly increase traffic density and the overall balance of cars vs trucks.Tested on game version 1.38.x

- trucks can now drive without a trailer, very rarely
- added traffic on dirt road with very low density (rule by Todor Alin)

The following parameters are implemented:
- from 4:00 to 10:00 and from 15:00 to 20:00 the density changes
every half hour, from 10 to 15 and from 20600 to 4:00 each hour;
- high density in the morning and in the afternoon with the subsequent gradual
decrease by the evening. Peak flow occurs at 8:30 and 17:00;
- High density on motorways during the day and reasonable intensity at night with a minimum at 02: 00-03: 00;
- relatively high density on local roads, variable frequency allows you to easily overtake;
- Proportional ratio of transp. means;
- very low traffic density on local roads at night;
- improved cycle of traffic lights at all intersections (two types of cycle);
- Up to 3 seconds the duration of the yellow after the green is increased in order to avoid emergencies;
- The duration of yellow after red is reduced to 1 second (be careful!);
- the cycle of work of traffic lights on road works is changed, red burns for 12 seconds.It is recommended to place density and intensity modes in priority with respect to cards and traffic packs.

- the number of vehicles with illumination turned on in bad weather was increased
- the density and intensity values were changed during the day;
- Added a new rule that allows some cars to move faster than the speed limit;
- Removed several obsolete rules;
- Added personalized daily density limits for slow vehicles;
- increase the speed of default trucks for more frequent overtaking;
- increase / decrease the speed of traffic cars to create a visible discrepancy
between different cars (some older models of cars are slower going).
- reduced the frequency of cars and trucks in cities;
- urban transport was removed from local roads;
- edited car coloring;
- Traffic was removed from country roads (except for agricultural transport);

The following parameters are implemented:
- density and traffic intensity changes every 2-3 hours ;;
- high density in the morning and in the afternoon with the subsequent gradual decrease by the evening. Peak flow occurs at 8:30 and 17:00;
- high density on motorways during the day and low at night with a minimum from 00:00;
- relatively high density on local roads, variable frequency allows you to easily overtake;
- Proportional ratio of transp. means;
- very low traffic density on local roads at night;
- improved cycle of traffic lights at all intersections (two types of cycle);- Up to 3 seconds the duration of the yellow after the green is increased in order to avoid emergencies;
- The duration of yellow after red is reduced to 1 second (be careful!);
- the cycle of work of traffic lights on road works is changed, red burns for 12 seconds.It is recommended to place density and intensity modes in priority with respect to cards and traffic packs.
Version 1.30d:
- increase in density in cities and highways;
- more cars during peak hours; more trucks on motorways outside the rush hour;
- less traffic on local roads, improved overtaking conditions;
- the frequency of traffic for a small increase in FPS is reduced;
- traffic light is switched on in bad weather and switched off to sunny and with low clouds;
- reduced the frequency of the appearance of slow transport (tractors and combines). -
